Paul Krekorian for LA District 2

December 3rd, 2009 | by Don Duncan |

UPDATE… Congratulations to Paul Krekorian, who won the election for LA City Council District 2!

Voters in Los Angeles Second City Council District go to the polls on December 8 to elect a new representative.  The choice should be clear for those who support safe access to medical cannabis. Former Assemblymember Paul Krekorian supports sensible regulations and voted to protect patients’ employment rights in the Legislature last year. His opponent, Christine Essel, vows the support City Attorney Carmen Trutanich (who supports her candidacy) in closing “illegal” medical cannabis collectives. Essel has not indicated if she agrees with Trutanch that almost every collective is illegal.

This video is from a candidates’ debate sponsored by Sherman Oaks Homeowners Association. Krekorian and Essel answer a question about medical cannabis collectives beginning around 1:15.

Medical cannabis patients can not afford to take chances on a another elected official. They should vote for a man with a proven track record of supporting patients’ rights. Electing Krekorian in District 2 will give patients one more voice of support as we continue to debate regulations or deal with the fallout from those the City Council is about to adopt. So get out and vote!
